Redcar School of Gymnastics is an independent gymnastics club offering a service to the young people of the Redcar and Cleveland area, operated and supported by dedicated volunteers. The club is operated by an elected executive and has around 25 coaches.
The club currently has approximately 165 gymnasts from the age of 5 up to around 16, both boys and girls, ranging from complete novices up to pre-elite standard. Younger gymnasts work through the BGA badge system. For more advanced gymnasts, we can compete in two and four piece artistic events locally, regionally and nationally.
Over the years, we have participated in a variety of exchange programmes, both within Britain and overseas. There are current links with the Don Clark gymnastics club in Maryland, USA and with the Kendal gymnastics club from Cumbria. The club has also developed links with a number of local schools.
We also have a gym minis group, an adult gym group and a martial arts group using our facilities.
The club is situated close to the centre of Redcar, with bus, train and car access. We have an active social and fundraising programme. The club is completely self-supporting, and is currently seeking funding for a new building.
