Lean more about Helen's Trust

Helen’s Trust was established in memory of Derbyshire woman Helen Louise Lyon.
Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer which became incurable. Despite this she was determined to lead as normal a life as possible in her own home. Owing to some exceptional circumstances and the support of family and friends, Helen was able to stay at home. On the 6th October 2001 Helen died peacefully in surroundings most familiar to her and in the presence of those she loved - she was just 44 years of age. At Helen’s funeral in 2001 the charity was launched to enable others to be able to make the choice to die at home.

Helen’s Trust fund care and equipment but will also consider all genuine requests for help which are about helping a person to stay at home when they are near the end of their life. Helen’s Trust has a strong reputation for being responsive and flexible, our uniqueness can be seen in the creative ways in which we support people; bringing much relief to beneficiaries, their families and carers.

Helen’s Trust believe that having the choice to be at home at the end of your life is really important, but don’t take our word for it, watch our short film and hear first-hand how we made a difference to one of the families that we have helped.

"Having choice as to where you die has tremendous value for the patient and for their family”. http://youtu.be/Qo0DuccPUeM
